We all wish there were more hours in the day, especially when it comes to spending time with our kids. The good news is there are simple things you can do that will allow you to have more family time. Whether you cook meals together or create a homework station, you’ll love these tips for spending more time with your kids.

1. Cook Together

Instead of spending time alone in the kitchen, get your kids in the kitchen with you. There are so many jobs that kids of all ages can handle. Whether it’s stirring or measuring, your kids can get involved. Also, there are so many benefits to cooking together. You’re not only teaching your children a valuable skill, but kids involved in the cooking process are more apt to eat healthier meals.

2. Create a Homework Station

Do your kids do homework in their rooms? Why not create a homework station where your kids can work on their homework while you’re washing dishes or going through the mail? You can talk about their day and help them with their homework. It’s an easy way for everyone to spend more time together.

3. Read Together

Each evening make some time for the family to read a book together. Everyone can take turns reading a few paragraphs or a chapter aloud. If your children are too young to read aloud, read to them. Reading time is something that all families should be doing if you want your kids to love reading.

4. Schedule Time Accordingly

Another great tip is to schedule your time accordingly. For example, take care of work projects while your kids are at school. Wash dishes after they go to bed. It may mean staying up a bit later or working harder during the day, but it will give you so much more time with your kids when they are home with you.

5. Take Up a New Hobby

Last but not least, learn a new hobby together. You could watch videos on YouTube to teach you a new craft or take a painting class together. Once you’ve learned a new hobby, you can spend time doing it together each evening or weekend.  One of our family’s favorite hobbies is to find a new board or card game to play together.
