I used this craft a couple of years ago when I was room mom for both of my kids in grammar school. It is such an easy and fun craft, not to mention cute Halloween decor too! Here’s how to make this Halloween Glowing Ping Pong Craft.

Supplies Needed:

  • Ping Pong Balls – usually I buy the 6 packs from Dollar Tree
  • LED Flickering Battery Operated Votive Candles – you can also find these as 2 packs at Dollar Tree but I found it easier to buy online from Amazon
  • Hot glue gun
  • Semi Permanant Markers like Sharpies
  • Googly Eyes, sticker gems, glue dots (optional)

Instructions:

First heat up an empty glue gun. Once hot enough, use the tip to burn a small hole in each ping pong ball. Note due to the air inside the ball you might find they make a small pop when you press the hot glue gun on the ball. All you need to do is a quick push and release on the ball. Don’t make the hole too big or they won’t fit around the candle flame!

After you have made all of the holes in each ping pong ball, gently slide the ball onto the flames of the battery-operated votive candles.

Then once the ball and candle have been assembled, they are ready for the kids to decorate! My favorite is to use semi-permanent markets like Sharpies to draw on the ping pong ball. I have also used glue dots and googly eyes to make an eyeball candle and sticky gems to make a pretty bling candle (see photo).

Once they have been decorated, they are ready to turn on and display. They flicker and look really cool in a dark room!

If you decide to make this craft, I hope your kids enjoy it as much as mine did!
